History & Significance

Pradosh Vrat, also known as Pradosham, is a bi-weekly fast observed on the Trayodashi (13th day) of both lunar fortnights. The twilight period (Pradosha Kaal) is considered extremely sacred for Shiva worship. According to the Shiva Purana, Lord Shiva danced on Mount Kailash during twilight on this day to delight the Devas, who gathered to praise him. Observing Pradosham fasting and performing worship during these hours is believed to dissolve negative karma, release devotees from debts, and bring absolute peace and prosperity.
